2008 Book Drive
Book Donations for a Children's Charity

As part of the holiday festivities at the SLA Philadelphia Holiday Party, a children's charity is selected to receive book donations from SLA members.
The selected charity for this year's book drive is the Lubuto Library Project. The not-for-profit Lubuto Library Project was founded by SLA member, Jane Meyers, from the Washington DC Chapter with the goal of bringing libraries to the AIDS orphans in Zambia, Southern Africa. Wrapping books is not necessary, because the books will be classified and added to a Lubuto collection, not given to an individual child. Please take a look at Lubuto's book donation guidelines before selecting your new or gently-used book to donate.
If you'd like to contribute more than books, Lubuto Library Project accepts financial donations year-round. If you or your organization would like to organize a group donation, sponsoring a whole subject area of a Lubuto Library would be a great match! For more information, visit www.lubuto.org. Please send general donations to:

Lubuto is a word in the Bemba language, spoken in central Africa, that signifies knowledge, enlightenment and light.
